edible garden
This is a course that is delivered in four parts at four key points in the planting and growing seasons throughout 2024. Led by expert gardeners Alex Dobbs and Dieter Sommer, it takes place in the garden county of Wicklow from 10am to 1pm on four Saturday mornings between February and September. The course also features visiting experts such as Irish Seedsavers and Birdwatch Ireland.

Day 1: 24th February 2024
Learn to... set up your garden for the year, prepare your seedbeds, buy the right seeds and seed potatoes, and grow the most suitable plants for your garden. This week's guest speaker Oran O'Sullivan, Irish Garden Birds, will talk about gardening for a healthy bird population.
Day 2: 6th April 2024
Learn to... for your seedlings, plan your garden, set up composting, and manage pests and diseases organically. Guest speaker. Billy Markham, of Ashford and District Beekeepers Association, will talk about growing flowers to feed your local bees.

Day 3: 18th May 2024
Start to harvest, exchange seedlings, and plant for the summer and autumn. This week's guest speaker is Elaine Bradley, CEO of Irish Seed Savers Association, will talk about growing heirloom plants
Day 4: 14th September 2024
Learn about ideal winter crops to grow, prep your beds for the winter, composting techniques and skills, and learn from our experience this year and plan ahead.
